August & September - Lamb marking.

This year 90% of lamb marking was finished on time, with the last bit completed late due to an unplanned hold up.

All of lamb marking ran like clock work and in addition to the normal “home crew” we had a great team of others. Thank you to Silas who caught every single lamb for the year and put each and every one in the cradles. Being AFL grand final day by the time the very last ones were finished - it was a huge and hard job.

Thank you again to Marty, Tom and Ella also for their help.

Lamb marking results were great, and a summary follows:

  • Stud ewes averaged 125.9% to a high of 133.7% (most stud mobs joined at 1% or lower)

  • Maiden flock ewes went 126.6% (joined at 2%)

  • Older flock ewes averaged 129.9% to a high of 134.7% (joined at just under 2%)

[None of the mobs were scanned or wet & dried. The lambs were not mulesed.]
